Heart-Born Collages to Inspire You
Welcome to Cordisgen Art, the title comes from the idea that the genesis of all inspirational creation comes from the heart. I know it's a bit banal but it works for me, so there you go. :)

I am a career dabbler, a generalist if you may, of artistic pursuits. My new obsession with collage art is probably no different, but for now I am having a blast with it. I was showing my friend (creator of https://distillation.neocities.org/) some of my pretty pictures and she recommended I put it up here for you all to enjoy.
I consider myself an inspirational collage artist. My process for creating these pictures is intuitive, trusting that where a fragment lands is where it belongs and that any imperfection is not a flaw.
My philosophy for creating these collages are as follows:
- Trust yourself, trust the process: this comes from Laura St. John an incredibly inspirational mindset coach of Strong Confident Living.
- Don't overthink it: rather than spending a lot of time picking the exact right scrap to use, I would:
- choose something I wanted to say
- grab a scrap at random
- look for other scraps that seems to go with it
- put it all together and cross your fingers
- Have fun: there were days when I would overthink and it was not fun. Those days I would step away from my desk and try again the next day.
- Turn off your mean/critical voice: that voice is a liar but sadly for some of us it's a strong one too. So when everything is glued down and I have deemed it complete I let it be what it became without picking at it later.
“You don't have to be right — you just have to do.”
My art is sort of a conversation between what was and what could be. Between word and image. From order to chaos back to order. This is not about control — it’s about creation. These pieces are born from my heart in the hopes of igniting yours. Scroll through and enjoy. Check back every once in a while, I have a ton more to post. Also, I'd love to hear from you, if you are so inclined then please sign my guestbook.

Life is an Extraordinary Adventure
Yes, adventure is a theme in many of these collages. This one was made on a piece of homemade paper - the picture doesn't do it justice but IRL you can see that the paper has some flower petals and other things embedded in it. So the butterflies seemed to really go with the rest of it. Now I won't pretend that life is always flowers and butterflies, but even when it sucks, it's always an extraordinary adventure.
Admire Yourself
I like this one. It's not the best one i've done, but there is something very tranquil about it that appeals to me. The images came from a magazine I got when I was visiting my best friend on Martha's Vineyard. For those couple of days I would take some time and make something pretty before going to sleep. I found it very relaxing. I especially like the boat, I imagine myself laying on the boat looking up at the sky floating down the river to the left of it. The "Admire Yourself" came from an old Sark poster I had for a long time. Anyone else remember Sark? I'm probably aging myself, she was very popular in the late 90's early 2000's. She wrote very colorful books that encouraged creativity.
Dragon Eye
This one clearly isn't a collage. But I wanted to show it off because it was so cool to me. I came across this watercolor artist in YouTube who walked theough this simple tutorial and i thought "I could do that" I hopped out of bed, it was like 11pm. My husband was like "Where are you going?" i went to my office and I just made it. It was so simple and beautiful, but I would never have thought of it on my own. Yet, here it is, and I did that. Sometimes it's the little things that feel like the biggest accomplishments.
What are you Going to Do About It?
So this one totally cracked me up. The frog on top is definitely asking the question, but it's the expression on the bottom frog that cracked me up. Added to that, when I found that combative rooster I knew I had something. I paired it with the frog contemplating the act of deciding if you are ready or not and that maybe you should just do it. Come to think about it Yoda always had a frog like look about him (well he was green at least) and his most famous saying was "Do or Do not, there is no try."
I Believe this is Meant for Me
There is so much to love about this one. It's beautiful and chaotic. I have an entire drawer of flowers clipped from various magazines. Somehow not only did I see this as "what was meant for me is all the beauty in the world" and I am the little girl chacing after the balloon that will take me flying over all that beauty.
Adventure is Worthwhile in Itself
This one was created to show that inspiration and adventure can come from any direction. You will never guess from where, so leave yourself open to experiencing the magic. If someone had told me in early 2012 that I would meet the love of my life in my 40's, that he would be someone I knew at 16, and that we would be happily married and live this life, I don't think I would have believed them. But here I am amazed and honestly quite surprised.
Enjoy the Ride
This is my life mantra. A reminder that life won't always be easy but do what you can to enjoy it every day. The image came from a card that one of my dearest friends gave me many years ago, so it's doubly loved because I think of her whenever I look at it. She is one of those people who knows how to see the good in things even when life is a challenge.
Choose Happiness Every Day
This began my collage journey. I love it so much because it is simple and pretty. I used various washi tape designs to create the background. At one point I shrunk it and made a necklace. (one of my previous hobbies was taking pictures of flowers and making it into a neclace) One day I was at a conference and a woman went on and on about how pretty she thought it was, so I took it off and gave it to her. I like making people's day in such a simple way.
